Mid-Level Electrical Engineer

EMAG Technologies Inc. is looking for a junior to mid-level Electrical Engineer to perform analog and/or digital design. We are a high-tech company based in Ann Arbor, MI that develops and markets software and hardware solutions for analysis, characterization and diagnosis of RF and wireless systems and devices. The successful candidate will be a part of a high energy team of engineers working in the areas of RF and microwave circuits and antennas for communications and radar applications. This is a full-time salaried position with comprehensive health benefits and a 401K option.

Job Description

This position involves design, fabrication, prototyping, test & evaluation of electronics hardware, including analog or digital systems, with the ideal candidate demonstrating experience in both areas. Specifically, it involves:
  • Design of digital and analog circuitry in support of RF systems, such as power supplies, communication interfaces, and microcontrollers
  • Responsible for component selection, schematic capture, layout, prototyping, and documentation​
  • In-house or outsourced PCB fabrication and assembly​
  • Test and characterization of circuits in a laboratory environment​
  • Field testing of circuits as part of larger systems​

Position Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in electrical engineering with circuits or embedded design emphasis or Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 3+ years of experience in those fields
  • Significant experience designing, prototyping, testing, and delivering electronic hardware, including analog or digital circuitry (ideally both), such as power supplies, comms bus interfaces, microcontroller or DSP embedded systems, and code (C/C++) for same.
  • Experience in schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium, KiCAD, etc.), and understanding of best practices for optimal electrical, EMI, thermal, and structural performance
  • Expertise with typical electronics test equipment (power supplies, DMM, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, function generator) and soldering/PCB assembly
  • Experience authoring system requirements and verification plans
  • Experience testing and integrating complex systems

Highly Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge of wired communication protocols including SPI, RS232, RS422, RS485, USB, etc.
  • Any background in RF theory and application
  • Experience with A/D and D/A converters
  • Basic knowledge of communication systems
  • Basic knowledge of RADAR systems
